Upcoming Events & Promotions

You can help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions by supporting the events and promotions below.

We've changed our name and our territory!
For the past ten years, our Make-A-Wish® chapter (formerly known as the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington) has granted wishes to thousands of children throughout this four-state territory which spans more than 800,000 miles. It's been our pleasure to grant the heartfelt wishes of these children throughout the Northwest, but it's with great excitement and anticipation that we announce that our territory has been realigned.

As of September 1, 2010, our chapter will focus our wish granting and fundraising efforts on Alaska and Washington and will be known as the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Alaska & Washington. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Idaho will assume the responsibility of granting wishes to all Idaho children and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia will administer wishes to children in Montana and will do business in the state as the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Montana.

Both the Idaho and the Montana chapters plan to hire professional staff to deliver the mission locally in these areas and the Montana chapter intends to open an office in the state in 2011. We believe this change will produce a better experience all around for wish children and their families, volunteers, supporters and donors. In fact, this year we anticipate a 5% increace in the number of wishes we will grant to children in Alaska and Washington now that our chapter can concentrate our efforts in these areas.

Many thanks to all the donors, volunteers and community supporters who, for a decade, have helped our chapter to grant thousands of wishes to children throughout the Northwest. We hope that you will continue your support and work with these two chapters to ensure that more children realize their wishes come true.

Walk for Wishes Raises More Than $96,000!
Fifteen-year-old wish recipient Cullen accomplished something quite remarkable on August 15th. He ran away with the top honors as the highest individual fundraiser at the Seattle Walk for Wishes, the top individual fundraiser across our entire territory having raised more than $6,000, and lead the "Hope, Strength and Joy" team to victory as the top fundraisering team.

Cullen, who recently underwent a double lung transplant, has been fundraising for months. According to his family, participating in the Walk for Wishes has been a very important part of Cullen's treatment protocol as it's given him something to aspire and look forward to. "Cullen's commitment is admirable," said Barry McConnell, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska & Washington. "It's amazing that someone so young is so committed to making the wishes of other kids come true."

With walks in Seattle/Eastside, Tacoma/South Sound and Spokane, collectively more than 77 teams and 500 walkers turned out to raise over $96,000!

Make-A-Wish Foundation Named One of the Best Places to Work by Puget Sound Business Journal
The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington was named as one of the finalists for Washington's Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in five different categories – small, medium, large, extra large company and nonprofit organization – have been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 80 companies have made the grade as finalists.

Close your eyes, blow on an eyelash and help make wishes come true…
Inspired by the tradition of blowing on an eyelash to make wishes come true, join LATISSE® (a prescription treatment used to grow longer, fuller and darker eyelashes) as they strive to raise more than a quarter of a million dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® through the star-studded LATISSE® Wishes Challenge campaign.

Here's how it works:
Several celebrities, including fashion CEO Kathy Ireland, professional ballroom dancer Chelsie Hightower and style guide Bobbie Thomas, will lead teams of LATISSE® users in raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Each team is challenged to raise the most funds by encouraging consumers to join their team and donate a minimum of $20 online. Allergan, the makers of LATISSE®, will double donations and send a LATISSE® free trial certificate that can be taken to a doctor to see if LATISSE® is right for you.

Join Team Kathy, Team Chelsie, or Team Bobbie at www.LatisseWishesChallenge.com.
