Wish Letters, Quotes, and Accolades

My name is Megan Butcher. September 6th was my 13th birthday. For my birthday last year I got many presents, that after I thought about it, I didn’t really need. I am very blessed, but I’m not talking about money, clothes or toys. I have a loving family, and more friends and supporters than I could wish for, but most of all, my good health.

I found your charity on the internet, and was really touched by what you are doing without near as many rewards as you should get, and I’m so grateful that there are still people like you in our world today.

For my 13th celebration I had many friends, and instead of accepting gifts, I accepted donations for your charity. We raised 700 dollars. I have such a sense of satisfaction knowing that this money will go towards someone who is not as blessed as myself. In doing this, I realized the good in so many people. In all my friends for giving donations, my family for setting an example of how to give, and this foundation for setting such a great example of how to help others.

I wanted to make my first day as a teenager memorable, and I know I’ll remember this forever. “You make a living from what you get, but you make a life from what you give.” Anyone who is reading my letter is making such a life for themselves, know that you are so giving and so unselfish. It makes me so happy to know that there are still people like you in the world. Once again, thank you so much.

Letter from 13-year-old, Megan
